Easter Parade (aka Spectacle!)

I am one of the few people who gets excited about the fact that there is still an Easter Parade in NYC.  This is because I grew up on a healthy diet of Fred Astair musicals...one of which was the 1948 classic, Easter Parade

My memory of the plot is fuzzy, all I remember is big hats and large groups of people dancing down the street.  And that's pretty much what the Easter Parade is, even to this day!

Here's what About.com says about the "parade."  Apparently, they just close off 5th ave in the 50s and people wander around the street wearing outrageous hats and costumes.

Below are some pictures of today's Easter Parade.  The spectacle begins at 10 am and lasts until 4pm on Sunday April 4th. Have fun! Happy Easter!
